# Video: Connect Your First Work App to Elaichi

> Watch how to connect your first work app to Elaichi: add a connection, sign in with OAuth 2.0, see it turn Active, and fix it if it will not connect.

**TL;DR** To connect an app to Elaichi, open Connections, select Add connection, search for the app and select Connect. Choose OAuth 2.0, approve the access in the app's own window, and Elaichi shows Connection added with the status Active. The connection's toolbox is then already on the Toolboxes page. This video shows every step on the real screens, with Notion as the example.

This video shows how to connect your first work app to Elaichi, on the real screens, with Notion as the example. You connect an app once, and your AI client can use it.

## How do you connect your first work app to Elaichi?

The video follows one connection from start to finish. The written guide has the longer detail where it helps.

- **0:00** Open Connections, select Add connection, pick the app and select Connect.
- **0:26** Choose OAuth 2.0 and approve the access in the app's own window.
- **0:41** See Connection added, the status Active and the connection's toolbox.
- **0:57** What to do if it will not connect.

## What do you need before you start?

An Elaichi account, and an account for the app you want to connect. Here, that is Notion. The steps below are as of October 2026, and menus can change as the app updates.

## How do you add a connection?

In Elaichi, choose **Connections**, then **Add connection**. Search for the app and select it. You can give the connection a label, or leave it empty. It stays private to you until you share it. Then select **Connect**.

## How do you sign in?

Elaichi asks how you want to sign in. Choose **OAuth 2.0**. The app's own window opens and shows what Elaichi can do. For Notion, select the pages Elaichi may use, then select **Allow access**. OAuth is the standard way an app lets another service act for you without sharing your password ([RFC 6749](https://www.rfc-editor.org/rfc/rfc6749)). Notion's own page picker lets you search for the pages and databases to share ([Notion's authorization docs](https://developers.notion.com/guides/get-started/authorization), checked October 2026).

## How do you check that it works?

A few seconds later, Elaichi shows **Connection added**, and the status is **Active**. Now open **Toolboxes**. A toolbox for your connection is already there, under **Automatic**. If your AI client has **All my tools**, it can use the app right away.

## What if it will not connect?

1. If the sign-in window closes early, the connection shows **Awaiting sign-in**. Select **Finish sign-in**.
2. If it shows **Needs sign-in**, select **Reconnect**.
3. If an app is blocked for you, ask an administrator. Restrictions are managed under **Governance**.

For the written steps, who owns a connection and how to share it, read the [Connect an account guide](https://elaichi.ai/docs/guides/connections/connecting-an-account). The same connection works in [Claude](/blog/connect-claude-to-your-work-apps/), [ChatGPT](/blog/connect-chatgpt-to-your-work-apps/), [Cursor](/blog/connect-cursor-to-your-work-apps/) and other MCP clients, because the server follows the open [Model Context Protocol specification](https://modelcontextprotocol.io/specification/2026-07-28).

## FAQ

### Do I need an administrator to connect an app?

Not always. You need the permission to create connections, which the built-in Member role includes. If an administrator has blocked the app for you, Elaichi tells you, and you can ask an administrator for access.

### Who can use the connection I add?

Only you, until you share it. Under Share with you can add a member, a team or everyone in your organization when you connect, or later in Manage access.

### Does it work with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other AI clients?

Yes. Elaichi works with Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client. A connection is made once in Elaichi, and an AI client that has All my tools can use the app right away.
