## Connect AssemblyAI in Elaichi

This happens once for the organization, before any client is involved.

1. Open Connections, choose Add connection, and pick AssemblyAI.
2. Optionally set Share with, then press Connect.
3. Paste an AssemblyAI API key. One person generates a token in AssemblyAI and pastes it once. Everyone else works through Share with, and never sees it.

Credentials are vaulted and nobody, including the AI, reads them back. The connection becomes a toolbox immediately, so you can curate which AssemblyAI tools are exposed, rename them, or freeze arguments before anyone points a client at it.

## What the consent screen decides

Only Read is granted by default, which is not enough to call a AssemblyAI tool. Over MCP there is no trusted place to confirm a write in the moment, so the consent screen is the standing approval rather than a formality. Grant Read and Run tools. Think hard before granting Delete, which reaches into connected apps and cannot be undone.

### How do I connect AssemblyAI to Claude?

In Elaichi, choose AssemblyAI and paste the API key from your AssemblyAI dashboard, which is the whole sign-in step, since there is no OAuth application to register and no client ID or secret to generate. Then open Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp. Claude asks you to sign in to Elaichi as yourself, and AssemblyAI is available in your next conversation.

### Does AssemblyAI work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?

Yes. Once AssemblyAI is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client, and the Elaichi Agent. You connect AssemblyAI once and every client you use picks it up.

### What can an AI agent actually do with my AssemblyAI data?

It can upload a recording to AssemblyAI, start a transcript, and fetch it back as full text, sentences, or paragraphs with timestamps. It can search transcripts for particular words, fetch a subtitle file, pull the redacted version of a recording, and answer questions about what was said, such as listing the action items from a call. It can also list and delete transcripts in your AssemblyAI account.

### Does connecting AssemblyAI give the AI access to every transcript in my account?

An AssemblyAI API key covers the account it belongs to, so the AI sees the transcripts that account can already see, and nothing beyond that. Elaichi can narrow that further, for example by allowing transcription but not deletion, or by limiting who in the organization can use the AssemblyAI connection at all. Elaichi never widens what the key itself allows.

### Can my team share one AssemblyAI connection?

Yes. One person connects AssemblyAI with the API key and shares the connection with a team in Elaichi, and nobody else on the team ever handles the key. Each teammate still signs in to Elaichi as themselves, so the audit log records which person transcribed, searched, or deleted a recording.

### Can I stop an agent from deleting transcripts in AssemblyAI?

Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi apply per action, so you can allow uploading and transcribing in AssemblyAI while blocking deletion entirely. A blocked action is never advertised to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any other client, so no prompt, however worded, can reach it.

### What happens to an AssemblyAI connection when someone leaves?

When you offboard a person in Elaichi, their access to AssemblyAI through every client ends at once. If they had shared the AssemblyAI connection with a team, it keeps working for everyone else on that team. If you want the connection gone, disconnecting AssemblyAI once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and every other client at the same time.
