# Create an account

Sign up with your email address to create your account and your first organization.

**Where to find it:** Create account (linked from the sign-in screen)

Signing up creates two things: your personal user account, and an organization for your team’s work. You become the owner of that organization.

## Create your account

1. Open Create account and enter your work email.
2. Check your inbox and open the activation link.
3. Elaichi creates your account and your organization, starts your trial, and signs you in.

**You'll know it worked when:** You’re signed in as the owner of a new organization.

## Good to know

- The activation link is valid for 24 hours. Request a new one if it expires.
- Some workspaces turn off public signup. If you don’t see this screen, ask a colleague to invite you.

## If something goes wrong

- Didn’t get the email? Check spam, then request another link from the same screen.
