Snipe-IT MCP connector
The Snipe-IT connector brings your hardware assets, asset tags, serial numbers, audits, licenses and custom fields into Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client, so each person can look up and update Snipe-IT records inside their own access.
-
How it connects. Connects with an API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.
-
One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.
-
Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.
How to connect

Two steps, about a minute.
In Elaichi
Connect Snipe-IT once
-
Open Connections, choose Add connection, and pick Snipe-IT.

Optionally set Share with to give a team access, then press Connect.
-
Paste a Snipe-IT API key. One person generates a token in Snipe-IT and pastes it once. Everyone else works through Share with, and never sees it.
The credential is vaulted. Nobody reads it back, not even the AI.

In your AI client
Point it at one endpoint

Use cases
What teams do with Snipe-IT through Elaichi
Every one of these runs inside the access the person already has, and lands in the same audit log.
-
IT
Find an asset by tag or serial
Type the asset tag or serial number from the sticker and get the full Snipe-IT record back, including model, status and notes, without opening the console.
-
IT
Catch the record up after a repair
When a laptop comes back from the repair shop with a new screen or a new drive, tell the agent what changed and the Snipe-IT hardware record is updated on the spot.
-
Help desk
Log new hardware the day it arrives
Read out the model, serial and purchase details from the box and a new hardware record appears in Snipe-IT before the device reaches anyone's desk.
-
Compliance
Clear the overdue audit list
Ask which assets are due or overdue for audit, walk the floor, and record each audit in Snipe-IT as you confirm the device is where it should be.
-
Finance
Check license counts before renewal
Pull every license Snipe-IT holds for a vendor, see how many seats are recorded, and correct the record when the renewal quote arrives.
-
IT operations
Add a field across the asset catalog
Need a warranty end date or a cost center on every device? Create the custom field in Snipe-IT and start filling it in from the same conversation.
Try asking
- “Which hardware audits are overdue this month?”
- “Show laptops assigned to the Design team.”
- “List licenses with fewer than five seats left.”

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
How do I connect Snipe-IT to Claude?
Connect Snipe-IT in Elaichi first, which takes one step: paste the API key from your Snipe-IT account and it is ready. There is no OAuth application to register and no client ID or secret to generate. Then in Claude open Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste the endpoint https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp. Sign in as yourself and Snipe-IT is available in the conversation.
Does Snipe-IT work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?
Yes. Once Snipe-IT is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client and the Elaichi Agent. You connect Snipe-IT once and every client you use picks it up.
What can an AI agent actually do with my Snipe-IT data?
An agent connected to Snipe-IT can look up any hardware asset by asset tag or serial number, create a record for a new device, update an existing one, and restore one that was deleted. It can list which assets are due or overdue for audit and record an audit when you confirm a device. It can also read, create and update licenses and custom fields. Snipe-IT exposes a lot of actions, so short, concrete asks such as "find asset tag 0451" work better than long paragraphs.
Does connecting Snipe-IT give the AI access to everything in my asset database?
No. Every call to Snipe-IT runs inside the access of the person who signed in, so the agent sees exactly the hardware, licenses and fields that person can already see in Snipe-IT, and nothing more. Elaichi can narrow that access further with restrictions, but it can never widen it beyond what Snipe-IT itself allows that person.
Can I stop an agent from deleting or changing things in Snipe-IT?
Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi apply per action, so you can allow reading hardware records and recording audits while blocking deletion of hardware, licenses or fields, or blocking updates entirely. A blocked action is never advertised to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor or any other client, so no prompt, however worded, can reach it in Snipe-IT.
What happens to a Snipe-IT connection when someone leaves?
Offboarding that person in Elaichi ends their access to Snipe-IT through every client at once. If they were using a shared Snipe-IT connection, it keeps working for everyone else on the team. If you disconnect Snipe-IT in Elaichi altogether, it disappears from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and every other client in one step.
