Buildium MCP connector

The Buildium connector brings your rental properties, associations, units, ownership accounts, architectural requests and property files to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any other MCP client, so each person can ask about them and act on them inside their own Buildium access.

  • How it connects. Connects with an API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.

  • One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.

  • Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.

How to connect

How to connect Buildium to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

Two steps, about a minute.

1

In Elaichi

Connect Buildium once

  1. Open Connections, choose Add connection, and pick Buildium.

  2. Optionally set Share with to give a team access, then press Connect.

  3. Paste a Buildium API key. One person generates a token in Buildium and pastes it once. Everyone else works through Share with, and never sees it.

The credential is vaulted. Nobody reads it back, not even the AI.

Use cases

What teams do with Buildium through Elaichi

Every one of these runs inside the access the person already has, and lands in the same audit log.

  • Property management

Pull up a rental property before a call

Ask for a rental property by name or address and get its details from Buildium, so you walk into an owner or tenant conversation already caught up.

  • Leasing

Review active unit listings and their contacts

List the units currently advertised in Buildium and the listing contacts attached to each one, then take down a listing once the unit is leased.

  • Association management

Track architectural requests across every association

See which homeowner architectural requests are open for each association, open the attached drawings and forms, and log a new request when one arrives by email.

  • Accounting

    Find owners with outstanding balances

Ask which ownership accounts carry an outstanding balance in Buildium and get the list back in plain language, ready to follow up before the board meeting.

  • Operations

Set up a new association or property

Create a new association in Buildium, add its units, or record a newly acquired rental property without clicking through every setup screen by hand.

  • Office administration

Keep property files current and tidy

Look up a lease, insurance certificate or inspection report stored in Buildium, correct its title or description, and remove files that are out of date.

Try asking

  • “Show rentals with open architectural requests this week.”
  • “List associations created since January and their ownership accounts.”
  • “Which rentals are missing signed lease files?”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Buildium to Claude?

First connect Buildium in Elaichi by pasting in a Buildium API key, which you generate inside your Buildium account. Then open Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste the endpoint https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp. There is no OAuth application to register and no client ID or secret to generate; the whole thing takes a few minutes.

Does Buildium work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?

Yes. Once Buildium is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client and the Elaichi Agent. You connect Buildium once and every client you use picks it up.

What can an AI agent actually do with my Buildium data?

It can look up rental properties, associations and their units, list the units you have advertised and who the listing contacts are, and find ownership accounts with outstanding balances in Buildium. It can also open, update or remove property files, review the documents attached to architectural requests, and create new associations, units, rentals or architectural requests when you ask. Because Buildium exposes a large number of actions, short concrete asks like "show open architectural requests for Maple Grove" work better than long paragraphs.

Does connecting Buildium give the AI access to every property and association in my account?

No. Everything an agent does in Buildium runs inside the access of the person who signed in, so it sees the properties, associations and files that person can already see in Buildium. Elaichi can narrow that further, for example by hiding the ability to delete files, but it can never widen access beyond what Buildium already grants.

Can my team share one Buildium connection?

Yes. One person connects Buildium in Elaichi and shares the connection with a team, and nobody else ever handles the Buildium API key. Each teammate still signs in to Elaichi as themselves, so the audit log names the person who looked up a rental or created an association, not a shared account.

Can I stop an agent from deleting or changing things in Buildium?

Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi apply per action, so you can allow reading rentals and associations while blocking the ability to delete unit listings or property files in Buildium. A blocked action is never shown to Claude, ChatGPT or any other client at all, so no prompt, however worded, can reach it.

What happens to a Buildium connection when someone leaves the company?

When you offboard a person in Elaichi, their access to Buildium through every AI client ends at once. If they had shared a Buildium connection with their team, it keeps working for everyone else. If you ever want to remove Buildium entirely, disconnecting it once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and every other client together.
