Hive MCP connector

The Hive connector brings your Hive projects, teams, labels, workspaces and users to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and any MCP client through one endpoint, with each person working inside their own Hive access and every action recorded.

  • How it connects. Connects with an API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.

  • One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.

  • Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.

How to connect

How to connect Hive to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

Two steps, about a minute.

1

In Elaichi

Connect Hive once

  1. Open Connections, choose Add connection, and pick Hive.

  2. Optionally set Share with to give a team access, then press Connect.

  3. Paste a Hive API key. One person generates a token in Hive and pastes it once. Everyone else works through Share with, and never sees it.

The credential is vaulted. Nobody reads it back, not even the AI.

Use cases

What teams do with Hive through Elaichi

Every one of these runs inside the access the person already has, and lands in the same audit log.

  • Operations

Set up a new project in a minute

Ask for a new Hive project with the right name and owner, then have the people who will work on it added to the team. Everything is created in the workspace the person signed in to.

  • Project management

Find out what projects are live

Ask which Hive projects exist in a workspace, who leads each one, and which labels they carry, without opening every project card.

  • Marketing

    Keep labels tidy across campaigns

Rename a stale Hive label, create a new one for the quarter's campaign, or retire one nobody uses, all from a plain-language request.

  • Client services

Bring a new client's team together

Create a Hive team for a new account, add the account manager and delivery people, and update the membership as the engagement grows.

  • IT

    Onboard and offboard Hive users

Add a new hire as a Hive user, adjust their role tag when they change jobs, and remove the account when they leave, with each change logged to whoever asked for it.

  • Leadership

See how workspaces and groups are organized

Ask for a list of Hive workspaces, the groups inside them, and who belongs where, to check the structure matches how the organization actually works.

Try asking

  • “Which Hive projects changed in the last week?”
  • “List Hive workspace users in the Design group.”
  • “Create a Hive project for the Q3 migration.”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Hive to Claude?

Connect Hive in Elaichi first, which asks you to paste an API key from your Hive account, and there is no OAuth application to register and no client ID or secret to generate. Then in Claude open Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp as the endpoint. You sign in to Elaichi as yourself and Hive is ready to use in Claude.

Does Hive work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?

Yes. Once Hive is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client, and the Elaichi Agent. You connect Hive once and every client you use picks it up.

What can an AI agent actually do with my Hive data?

With Hive connected, an agent can list and look up your Hive projects, teams, labels, workspaces, groups and users, and it can create, update or remove projects, teams, labels and users when you ask. Because Hive has a large set of actions, the agent searches for the right one as you ask, so short concrete requests such as "create a project called Q3 launch" work better than long paragraphs.

Does connecting Hive give the AI access to every workspace and project?

No. Every Hive action runs as the person who signed in, so the AI sees only the Hive workspaces, projects and users that person can already see in Hive. Elaichi can narrow that further with restrictions, but it can never grant more than Hive itself allows that person.

Can my team share one Hive connection?

Yes. One person connects Hive in Elaichi and shares the connection with a team, and nobody else ever handles the Hive API key. Each teammate still signs in to Elaichi as themselves, so the audit log names the actual person behind every change to a Hive project, team or user.

Can I stop an agent from deleting or changing things in Hive?

Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi apply per action, so you can allow reading Hive projects and labels while blocking the ability to delete a project, remove a user or change a team. A blocked action is never advertised to Claude, ChatGPT or any other client, so no prompt can reach it.

What happens to a Hive connection when someone leaves?

Offboarding a person in Elaichi ends their access to Hive through every client at once. If they connected Hive and shared it with a team, the shared connection keeps working for everyone else. Disconnecting Hive once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and every other client at the same time.
