Lob MCP connector

The Lob connector lets Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and the Elaichi Agent send postcards, letters, and self mailers, manage mailing addresses, and check bank accounts and billing groups in Lob, with every action running under the signed-in person's own access and recorded in an audit log.

  • How it connects. Connects with an API key. The credential goes into a vault nobody reads back.

  • One address. https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, the same for every user.

  • Their own access. An agent never gets more than the person it acts for.

How to connect

How to connect Lob to Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor

Two steps, about a minute.

1

In Elaichi

Connect Lob once

  1. Open Connections, choose Add connection, and pick Lob.

  2. Optionally set Share with to give a team access, then press Connect.

  3. Paste a Lob API key. One person generates a token in Lob and pastes it once. Everyone else works through Share with, and never sees it.

The credential is vaulted. Nobody reads it back, not even the AI.

The Elaichi Agent already has these tools, with nothing to set up.

Use cases

What teams do with Lob through Elaichi

Every one of these runs inside the access the person already has, and lands in the same audit log.

  • Marketing

Send a postcard campaign from a chat

Describe the postcard, name the recipients, and have the agent create each Lob postcard against a saved address. Ask for the list afterwards to confirm what went out.

  • Sales

    Mail a follow-up letter after a call

Once a prospect meeting wraps up, dictate the letter and have it created in Lob to the contact's address on file, so a physical follow-up lands within days.

  • Operations

    Keep the address book clean

List the addresses stored in Lob, spot duplicates or outdated entries, and delete the ones that should not receive mail again.

  • Finance

Verify bank accounts before checks go out

Run a verification on a Lob bank account, look up its details, or remove one that is no longer in use, all without opening the Lob dashboard.

  • Finance

Sort mail spend into billing groups

Pull up a Lob billing group, rename it or change its description, and see which groups exist so mail costs land against the right cost center.

  • Support

Check whether a letter was created

When a customer asks about a notice they were expecting, look up the Lob letter by its ID or scan recent letters to confirm it exists and when it was created.

Try asking

  • “Show all postcards sent to our California mailing list this week.”
  • “List every letter still pending delivery for the Q3 campaign.”
  • “Which addresses bounced on our last self mailer batch.”

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I connect Lob to Claude?

Connect Lob in Elaichi first, which asks for your Lob API key and nothing else. There is no OAuth application to register and no client ID or secret to generate. Then open Claude, go to Customize, then Connectors, then Add, and paste https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp as the endpoint. Sign in as yourself and Lob is ready to use.

Does Lob work with ChatGPT and Cursor as well as Claude?

Yes. Once Lob is connected in Elaichi, the same endpoint, https://api.elaichi.ai/mcp, works in Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, any other MCP client, and the Elaichi Agent. You connect Lob once and every client picks it up.

What can an AI agent actually do with my Lob data?

With Lob connected, an agent can create postcards, letters, and self mailers, look one up by its ID, list recent ones, or delete one. It can also add and remove mailing addresses, verify and manage bank accounts, and view or update billing groups. Because Lob has a large set of actions, short concrete asks such as "list this week's postcards" work better than long paragraphs.

Does connecting Lob give the AI access to my whole account?

No. Everything an agent does in Lob runs under the access of the person who signed in, so it can only reach what that person's Lob API key already allows. Elaichi can narrow that further, for example to read-only or to postcards only, and it can never widen it beyond what the key permits.

Can my team share one Lob connection?

Yes. One person connects Lob in Elaichi and shares it with a team, and nobody else ever handles the Lob API key. Each teammate still signs in to Elaichi as themselves, so the audit log names the actual person behind every postcard, letter, or address change.

Can I stop an agent from deleting or changing things in Lob?

Yes. Restrictions in Elaichi work per action, so you can block deleting Lob postcards, letters, self mailers, addresses, or bank accounts while leaving lookups and lists available. A blocked action is never advertised to Claude, ChatGPT, or any other client, so no prompt can reach it.

What happens to a Lob connection when someone leaves?

Offboarding a person in Elaichi ends their access to Lob at once, across every client they used. If the Lob connection was shared with a team, it keeps working for everyone else. Disconnecting Lob once in Elaichi removes it from Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and every other connected client at the same time.
